Make Possible a New Life for Eucharia and Her Children
Eucharia Ugwu is a member of the Confraternity of Penitents (www.penitents.org). We have been in touch with her for over four years and she has completed all of 48 lessons in our way of life prior to pledging to live our Rule for life. Eucharia and her husband Paulinus were living in Benin where Paulinus was working. A generous benefactor made it possible for Eucharia and her children to move from Benin to Nigeria. However, Nigeria is not a safe country for Christians.
Eucharia shares this:
"My name is Ugwu Eucharia Ifeyinwa. I'm 32 years old and a mother of four children namely; Ugwu Petra 9years old, Ugwu Samantha 6years old, Ugwu Miguel 4years old and Ugwu Maris 2years old. Two boys and two girls. I lost my husband late Mr Ugwu Paulinus who died at the age of 43. He suffered intestine twinge and went through operation but couldn't survive it. He died on 1st February 2024 and I and my children have been going through very difficult financial challenges and means of survival is very tough on us because my husband didn't leave us any capital to support ourselves. We are trying to relocate to Uganda by the help of a great and kind hearted priest, Fr. Augustin Mugawura, who has offered to help me find business that I will be doing over there in other to support my children and I."
[Fr. Augustin had been at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Fort Wayne Indiana, USA. a few years ago. He operates a school in Uganda and has promised to help educate the children and assist Eucharia in finding housing and establishing a business once she gets to Uganda.]
The total cost of this move, including visas and travel expenses, is high. Eucharia writes:
"I made inquiries on how much it may take for the visa and for flights for five of us. They told me that things are going up everyday, that price today might not be the same tomorrow because of current situation of the Nigeria. I asked them to translate what it costs in dollars since I don't know the current exchange rates now and they gave me the total of $7000. And they are even saying that it may increase at any point in time. Please 🙏 Sr Margaret, I know how hard things are in every country right now please if you think about it and it is too cost please let us find another options because we also need to have some money in the pocket while traveling. And as it is we may need something to buy food and some basic needs like soap when we get there. All this things are causing me sleepless nights but I leave it in hands of God. Thank you and God bless."
Eucharia adds:
"Thank you for your prayers, and your answers I am really grateful. They sent the information that the available flight is on 28th of December and on 26th of January and that other days are already booked. They also mentioned some paperwork that we have to do and some prizes attached to it. And we will have to travel very far and even look for a place to sleep in order to get all this things done because the place is very far from where we live. If I think of all the expenses involved, I feel so depressed, all this things are new to me, I have never gone through it before but I am really happy to do it just that I don't have anything to support but I surrender everything in the will of God. Thank you very much Sr Margaret and God bless and reward you greatly."
Eucharia concludes,
"Thank you very much once again. I'm very happy and grateful. Yes we will need the money to reserve the tickets the the travel but for the paperwork I still need to travel to get it done. Once I get the money I will start immediately. God bless you more and more. I and my children are really grateful to you and all the members of our confraternity. God bless."
